WHAT IS REAL?

Old farm trucks…

Dogs...

And Babies…

There isn’t much in life anymore that is real.

ARTIFICIAL: Humanly contrived…Man-made…Not natural...Fake.

If you haven't seen the Dove campaign, watch this 1:17 video. It's pretty amazing.

YouTube

Did you see how they took an average nice-looking girl and made her into what
typifies “beauty” today?...ARTIFICIAL

Some good…maybe much good…has come from artificial...

Joints...Heart valves...And the list goes on...

On a much more insignificant scale...

FAKE NAILS...which I have had...

FAKE EYELASHES...which I have tried...They were kinda fun. ;)

FAKE CHRISTMAS TREES…

And...FAKES OF FAKE CHRISTMAS TREES...

My whole point is, though, that our whole world is fake!

FAKE FLOWERS...

FAKE GRASS...

FAKE FOOD...

I want real...I love real...I crave real...

REAL: Not artificial, fraudulent, or illusory: Genuine.

So...What is REAL?

OLD FARM TRUCKS ARE REAL...

We got the opportunity, if you want to call it that, (wink) to drive an old worn-out 1959 farm truck. DH borrowed it from a friend, loaded it with roofing shingles from our roofing project, and took the load to the dump.

One evening, we went to get it from him…fifteen miles away. Though I didn’t get pictures, these stock photos will give you some idea of the shape that it was in.

It ran...

But it wasn't pretty!

The lights work…Sometimes, Brian said...

Well, that night they didn’t...

So we went the 15 miles back home…

On the back roads...in the dark!

I lead the way in our vehicle with flashers and lights that did work...

And, Steve followed blindly ;)

The REAL part of the story, though, is how wonderful and authentic the truck was. It didn’t have power steering...It didn’t have power brakes. It actually took muscles to drive it! There was no fancy interior.

Oh, how I wish that I would have gotten pictures to show you because it was divine! It was all real!

Barren metal floors..Metal dash… Metal glove box.

No cruise control or air conditioning…

No visor mirrors for me to primp in ;)…

No fancy fiberglass body to impress…

Just good old-fashioned wholesome usefulness with a purpose!

DOGS ARE REAL...

They don’t judge…

They don’t worry about their physical image...

And…They’re not self-centered…They love everyone else first…

BABIES ARE REAL…

They relish the simple…

Manners don’t matter…

And cleanliness is relevant…

They come in various shapes, sizes, and ages…

But best of all…

Once they’re yours...

They’re yours forever!

Remember what is real!

  1. I was just thinking of this very same thing today! It was nice to read your post to be reminded of what is truly real! Especially dogs and babies. :) We have two dogs and three babies and they are the most wonderful things in our lives - of course, the babies a WEE bit more than the dogs! :)

  2. I really enjoyed your post today. I totally agree with Sarah's comment. Too Cute!

As far as the note you left on my blog, I am happy to answer your question.

The platform for the Tea Parties was to educated the public as well as make our voices heard to Washington that we oppose the redistribution of wealth, universal healthcare, and much more on the liberal agenda. The main premise being the tax increases for the wealthy.

Aaron and I chose to participate because we believe that by not doing anything we are as good as supporting what we oppose. It may not have done a bit of good, I don't know, but I do know that we, at least, stood up for what we believe is right in the only way we know how. Also, there were a lot of booths and educational tables set up to educate passers-by about what Conservatism is all about. So, even if we can't change what is happening in Washington, we may have changed the heart of someone there, someone who could potentially vote.

Also, I know that God is in control of the situation. It is utimately He who raises up and lowers leaders. And this is all part of His plan. I know we cannot change the inevitable, but the Bible tells us we must stand for what is right.

I hope that answers your question. God Bless!

  5. Ladies,

Thank you for your comments. I appreciate you stopping by. :0)

Lauren, thank you for your answers. I really agree with your statement, “Aaron and I chose to participate because we believe that by not doing anything we are as good as supporting what we oppose.” Amen to that. I need to do more participating and less complaining. ;)

I hope you all find blessings in your week.
